DIY Ice Facial Recipes with Rose Water, Green Tea, and Aloe Vera — For Every Skin Type

by Bee's Creations on Jun 27, 2026

A plain ice facial with just cold water and ice is already powerful — but adding natural ingredients to your bowl takes the results to another level. The cold water acts as a carrier, helping active ingredients in natural ingredients penetrate more deeply into temporarily constricted pores. Here are our favourite DIY ice facial recipes using ingredients you can find anywhere in Pakistan.

Why Add Ingredients to Your Ice Facial Bowl?

When you dip your face in an ice facial bowl, the cold causes vasoconstriction — blood vessels constrict and pores tighten momentarily. But when you emerge and circulation rushes back, pores briefly become more receptive to absorbing what's on the skin surface. Adding beneficial natural ingredients to your bowl water means those ingredients are present on your skin at the exact moment it becomes most receptive.

Additionally, many natural ingredients have their own complementary effects that work synergistically with cold therapy.

Recipe 1: Rose Water Ice Facial — For Brightening and Glow

Best for: All skin types, especially dull or uneven skin tone

Benefits: Brightening, mild toning, hydration, anti-inflammatory, beautiful scent

Ingredients:

  • Cold water (to fill the bowl)
  • Ice cubes (6–8)
  • 3–4 tablespoons pure rose water (readily available at pharmacies and grocery stores across Pakistan)

How to Make:

Fill your BeeGlow Ice Facial Bowl with cold water. Add rose water and stir gently. Add ice cubes. Your bowl water should have a very light pink tint and smell faintly of roses.

How to Use:

Cleanse your face, then dip into the rose water ice bowl 4–5 times for 10–15 seconds each. Pat dry. Your skin should feel toned, refreshed, and slightly bright immediately after.

Why It Works:

Rose water contains phenylethanol and other compounds with mild astringent and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps tone the skin, reduce redness, and contributes to a brightened complexion. Its gentle pH also helps restore the skin's natural acid mantle after cleansing.

Recipe 2: Green Tea Ice Facial — For Acne and Oily Skin

Best for: Oily, acne-prone, and combination skin

Benefits: Antioxidant protection, sebum reduction, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory

Ingredients:

  • 2 green tea bags
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Cold water (to fill the rest of the bowl)
  • Ice cubes

How to Make:

Brew the green tea bags in 1 cup of boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove the bags and allow the tea to cool completely (you can speed this up by placing it in the refrigerator). Once cool, pour into your ice facial bowl, add cold water and ice cubes.

How to Use:

Cleanse your face, then dip into the green tea ice bowl 4–5 times for 10–15 seconds each. Follow with your regular oily skin routine.

Why It Works:

Green tea contains EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), a polyphenol shown in multiple studies to reduce sebum production, inhibit acne-causing bacteria (P. acnes), and reduce inflammation. Combined with the oil-controlling effects of cold temperature, this is one of the most powerful DIY treatments available for oily and acne-prone skin in Pakistan.

Recipe 3: Aloe Vera Ice Facial — For Sensitive and Irritated Skin

Best for: Sensitive, irritated, sunburned, or reactive skin

Benefits: Deeply soothing, anti-inflammatory, hydrating, healing

Ingredients:

  • Cold water
  • 2–3 tablespoons pure aloe vera gel (from the plant or pure bottled gel)
  • Ice cubes

How to Make:

Fill your bowl with cold water. Add the aloe vera gel and stir well until dissolved. Add ice cubes.

How to Use:

Ideal after sun exposure, after a long day in Pakistan's heat, or whenever skin feels irritated or reactive. Dip 3–4 times, 10–15 seconds each. Follow with a gentle moisturiser.

Why It Works:

Aloe vera contains acemannan, a polysaccharide with powerful anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. It's also deeply hydrating without being oily. Combined with cold therapy, it creates an intensely soothing treatment that calms even the most reactive skin.

Recipe 4: Turmeric and Milk Ice Facial — For Brightening Pakistani Skin Tones

Best for: Dull skin, uneven skin tone, pigmentation

Benefits: Brightening, anti-inflammatory, mild exfoliation from lactic acid

Ingredients:

  • Cold water
  • 3 tablespoons raw whole milk
  • A very small pinch of turmeric (no more than ⅛ teaspoon — use sparingly to avoid staining)
  • Ice cubes

How to Make:

Mix milk and turmeric in a small cup first, then add to your bowl water and stir well. Add ice cubes.

Important: Use a very small amount of turmeric. Too much will stain your skin temporarily yellow. When used in the right quantity, it provides anti-inflammatory benefits without visible staining.

Why It Works:

Turmeric contains curcumin, which is a potent anti-inflammatory and has been used in South Asian beauty traditions for centuries for brightening and evening skin tone. Milk contains lactic acid, a gentle alpha-hydroxy acid that provides mild exfoliation and brightening. This combination is particularly suited to Pakistani skin tones.

Recipe 5: Cucumber and Mint Ice Facial — For Summer Refreshing

Best for: All skin types, especially in Pakistan's summer

Benefits: Intensely cooling, refreshing, anti-inflammatory, brightening

Ingredients:

  • Half a cucumber, blended and strained
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves, blended with the cucumber
  • Cold water
  • Ice cubes

How to Make:

Blend cucumber and mint with a small amount of water. Strain through a fine sieve or cloth. Add the strained juice to your bowl water, then add ice cubes.

Why It Works:

Cucumber is primarily water with silica and vitamin C — deeply hydrating and mildly brightening. Mint contains menthol, which creates an additional cooling sensation that amplifies the refreshing effect of the cold water. This is our favourite summer recipe for Pakistan's hottest months.

Tips for DIY Ice Facial Recipes

  • Always use fresh ingredients — don't store mixed bowl water for more than a few hours
  • If you have known allergies to any ingredient, do a patch test on your wrist before using on your face
  • Strain all liquid ingredients thoroughly to avoid plant debris in the bowl water
  • Cool all hot-brewed ingredients completely before adding ice — hot water will melt your ice
