Hair Pins in Pakistan — How to Build a Bun That Actually Holds

by Bee's Creations on Aug 21, 2026

Most women in Pakistan have never used a proper hair pin, and the ones who have tried usually gave up after it slid out within ten minutes. The pin was almost certainly fine. The angle was wrong.

Done correctly, one pin holds a full bun for a twelve-hour day, with zero elastic and zero tension at the roots. For anyone dealing with breakage or headaches from tight ponytails, this is the single best technique to learn.

Why a pin holds at all

A hair pin does not clamp. It works by opposing tension — it passes through the bun, catches a small amount of hair rooted at the scalp, and then re-enters the bun on the other side. The bun pulls one way, the scalp-anchored hair pulls the other, and the pin locks between them.

Skip the scalp-catch and the pin is just a stick sitting in a bun. That is why it falls out.

The technique, step by step

  1. Start with day-two hair if possible. Freshly washed, slippery hair is the hardest to pin. A little texture helps enormously.
  2. Gather into a low ponytail with your hand. No elastic. Hold it where you want the bun to sit.
  3. Twist the length in one direction until it starts to coil on itself. Keep twisting until it feels springy.
  4. Wrap the coil around the base, tucking the ends under. Hold the whole thing flat against your head with your non-dominant hand.
  5. Insert the pin at the outer edge, pointing downward and slightly inward — not straight in.
  6. Catch the scalp. Push until you feel the pin skim the hair lying flat against your head. This is the step everyone skips.
  7. Angle back up and out through the far side of the bun. The pin should end up roughly parallel to your scalp, not sticking straight out.

If it holds when you shake your head gently, you did it right. If it wobbles, pull it out and re-enter with a steeper downward angle.

Which pin for which hair

Hair What to use Price
Shoulder-length, medium density Single pin Rs. 845
Long or thick Two pins, crossed Rs. 1,595 (pack of 2)
Very thick or waist-length Two pins plus a claw underneath
Fine or slippery Pin plus a light texturising spray

The Oaké Pin (Rs. 845) is our standard. If your hair is long, buy the Pack of 2 (Rs. 1,595) and cross them in an X through the bun — that configuration is close to immovable. The Pack of 3 (Rs. 1,895) is the best per-piece value and means you can keep one in your bag, one at home, one in your travel pouch.

Why pins beat elastics for daily wear

  • No breakage line. Nothing is clamping a single point of hair for eight hours.
  • No dent. Take it out and your hair falls normally instead of holding a crease.
  • No headache. Tension is distributed through the twist, not pulled at the temples.
  • Faster. Once you have the angle, it is a five-second style.
  • It looks intentional. A pinned bun reads as styled in a way a rubber-banded one does not — which is why it works for office, weddings and everything between.

Where a pinned bun works best

Office and long workdays, because there is no midday retightening. Shaadi season, because a metal pin finish sits well with formal wear. Summer, because a bun off the neck is the coolest style you can wear — see our office hair accessories guide for the full workday setup.

Frequently asked questions

My pin keeps sliding out. What am I doing wrong?

Nine times out of ten, you inserted it straight in instead of angling down first. The pin must catch hair anchored at the scalp. Re-do step six.

Do hair pins work on short hair?

Below chin length, no — there is not enough length to twist into a coil. Shoulder length and above works fine.

Will a pin damage my hair?

Less than any elastic. There is no clamping and no friction on removal. Just do not force it through tangles.

Are hair pins suitable for a bridal or mehndi look?

Very much so. A metal-finish pin in a low bun is a classic formal look and holds better through a long event than most bridal elastics.

How fast is delivery?

We ship nationwide with cash on delivery. Most cities receive orders within two to four working days, and orders over Rs. 4,500 ship free.
